UNITED WE RIDE - THE FINAL PUSH

Only one day to go until Saturday’s “United We Ride” event, and time to ensure the motorcycle is ready, and to put a final push for Donations for our Fundraising efforts towards the Salvation Army.

Thanks to everyone who have already donated to the Event Tally, myself and the Classic Harley Riders Melbourne Team.

It is still not too late to join our Team at Morgan & Wacker Harley-Davidson, Epping or Register for the ride with your local Harley-Davidson dealer.

This is an inaugural event, and it is hoped it will become an ongoing fundraising event by motorcyclists and the Community (similar to the Annual Toy Run) in support of the Salvation Army here in Melbourne.

UNITED WE RIDE - VISIT TO THE SALVATION ARMY MELBOURNE

Only a week to go until the Ride on Saturday 6^th September and time to step up with our Fundraising efforts.

Our Classic Harley Riders Melbourne Team has grown to 10 with a few others planning to join us.

Last Wednesday, I took my 2024 Harley-Davidson Hydra-Glide and spent some time at the Salvation Army’s building on Bourke Street, Melbourne. Here I met Commanding Officer, Major Brendan Nottle and his Team, and saw firsthand the great work by the Salvation Army staff at the Magpie Nest Café. This is just one area of their operations in Melbourne where they provide hundreds of meals to people in need at each setting, every day.

Major Nottle expressed his gratitude to Harley riders and their supporters for the Ride and Fundraising Event, as it is a never-ending financial challenge in supporting the homeless and others in need.

UNITED WE RIDE – THE NEXT STEP  

Now that I am committed to the Event, I have set myself a personal goal of $2,500 on the United We Ride Donation website.

I am hopeful of getting local support from my Classic bike friends from our Northern Melbourne HOG Chapter and the wider vintage and classic motorcycling community.
To this end I have set up a Team within the United We Ride Donation website called “Classic Harley Riders Melbourne” with a Team Target of $10,000.

Now its time to spread the word, get other Riders on board to ride on the Event on the 6^th September 2025 and sign up to raise a few funds and join the Classic Harley Riders Melbourne Team.

UNITED WE RIDE - GETTING STARTED

UNITED WE RIDE – Saturday 6^th September 2025

I have finally completed all the wrap up for the recent Southern Cross Cannonball Classic held in May 2025 and now for something completely different.

Our Cannonball Event was held over 14 days and covered over 4,300 kms across Australia raising over $135,000 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

This time I want to get involved in something a little closer to home, with a lot less time and distance involved and in support of a worthy cause.

The United We Ride – Harley Ride Day on 6^th September 2025 meets the brief.

Whilst an Australia-wide event – our local Ride is sponsored by our local Harley-Davidson dealer,  Morgan & Wacker Epping, and is a one day event and all funds raised go to the Salvation Army.

Meet Where: Morgan & Wacker Harley-Davidson – Epping.
Meet When: From 9.30 am
Stands Up: 11.00 am
Route: Scenic ride to St Andrews Hotel, then loop back to the dealership for Post Ride BBQ and activities.

Wednesday 30th Jul 2025 On Saturday the 6th of September 2025, I'm taking part in United We Ride, a national motorcycle event brought together by Harley-Davidson Australia & New Zealand in support of The Salvation Army. This isn’t just any ride — it’s a powerful show of unity, passion, and purpose as dealerships and riders roll out at the same time across Australia and New Zealand to raise vital funds for those doing it tough. The Salvation Army provides crucial support to people in need — from emergency relief to homelessness services, domestic violence support, financial counselling, youth programs and so much more. Their work helps transform lives in local communities, and this ride is our way of backing them. So before I fire up the engine and hit the road, I’m asking for your support.
